Bondix S.A.NE November 2022 Release Notes Our developers work on Bondix S.A.NE software incrementally which means that bug fixes, improvements, and even new features are constantly added, producing new release versions every couple of days. On a monthly basis, we publish a version that combines all changes added since the last version. This November 2022 Release contains the following changes, including an important security update for the S.A.NE server: New Features New Preset "Bonding (Encrypted)" (BETA) In general, Bondix S.A.NE doesn't encrypt bonded tunnels. Lately, we've encountered customer projects for which a lack of encryption is a showstopper, so we've implemented a new feature preset "Bonding (Encrypted)": If enabled, it activates a Wireguard-based encryption for S.A.NE tunnels. This means that all traffic between client and server is fully encrypted and the S.A.NE Server also acts as a VPN endpoint. Please note: Activating this new preset reduces the maximum throughput from 180 Mbps to 80 Mbps due to higher CPU load! You should only select this preset if a fully encrypted tunnel is essential or mandatory for your connectivity project. Please also note: This preset requires the latest S.A.NE server build! 20% Higher Throughput While the maximum throughput of our Enterprise bonding licenses on the most powerful Teltonika router models can go up to 200 Mbps (e.g. RUTX50), the average throughput was set to 150 Mbps due to memory limitations on the RUTX platform. With this latest firmware release, we've been able to raise that limit to 180 Mbps, equaling a performance increase of 20%. Improvements Client/Server General stability was improved due to the addition of an internal process watchdog. A debug message that could impede the overall performance when using layer-2 mode was removed. Server Server tunnel presets now match the tunnel presets on the client. Bug Fixes - Important Security Update! Server An issue has been identified that would allow an attacker to render the web interface unusable by sending a specifically crafted request until the service was restarted. If web interface access is disabled (by e.g. having a secondary management web interface listener), the issue does not occur. To update your S.A.NE server, please download the latest build from http://releases.bondix.dev/endpoint/install-bondix-server.sh and install it according to the Server manual. Miscellaneous Client We've noticed that on firmware versions 7.02.1 and up, a problem could occur on SIM dial-up under certain circumstances. Since this problem doesn't occur in earlier firmware versions up to 7.01.2, we now provide a new S.A.NE Client build. Bondix S.A.NE October 2022 Release Notes Our developers work on Bondix S.A.NE software incrementally which means that bug fixes, improvements, and even new features are constantly added, producing new release versions every couple of days. On a monthly basis, we publish a version that combines all changes added since the last version. This October 2022 Maintenance Release contains the following changes: New Features TCP Transport Mode With this October release, TCP transport mode is now available and can be enabled client-side by selecting the appropriate channel preset. It utilizes (unencrypted) TCP instead of UDP for data transport. The TCP Transport Mode may improve performance with high-bandwidth links, at the cost of increased latency. Determent of Search Engines Search engines can be very nosy and thus can pose a security risk. To prevent indexing by search engines, a “robots.txt” and meta tags have been added as standard to your Bondix S.A.NE Client and/or Server. DNS Record Alternatives To increase the accessibility and reliability of your Bondix S.A.NE setups, you can now use multiple IPs for alternative servers in your server DNS records. This ensures your infrastructure to be accessible even if one or more of your servers fail or are attacked. Improvements Client Client now supports Teltonika Firmware Release 07.02.7. Bug Fixes Client/Server An issue where packets were not sent under certain conditions has been fixed. It would cause packets not to be sent but be marked as such, resulting in self-inflicted packet loss. • Bondix Newsletter 9/2022

In this newsletter, you'll find information on our new Bondix license model, our new Bondix partners, September dates you might want to save, and release notes of the newest monthly Bondix S.A.NE release version. New Bondix License Model In the last few months, we've given a lot of thought to how we want to get Bondix S.A.NE out there and we feel that the simpler the process, the more attractive it will be. So, here it is, the result of months of deep thinking: The Model Distributors and Resellers buy a pool of license credits in advance from Bondix and sell them as individual licenses to their customers–inSANEly easy. License Credits One license credit equals one active tunnel for a duration of 12 months. You can combine up to three license credits to fit the needs of your customers, e.g. one 36-month license for one customer or one 12-month license for three customers, and many more. A licensing period starts on the first day of the month in which it is activated, and ends on the last day of the same month a year later. Sounds difficult, but really isn't! For example, you activate a license on 8/9/2022, and can use it from this moment on (we call this the "Grace Period")–the licensing period starts on 1/10/2022, however, and ends on 30/9/2023. License Types IoT Standard Enterprise Unlimited Special Ops Bonding Throughput Up to 10 Mbit/s Up to 75 Mbit/s Up to 200 Mbit/s tbd tbd Max. # of Bonded WAN Links 4 4 4 tbd tbd Offline License ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ ✔ Pricing Tier 1 2 3 4 5 In case you need this information a bit more detailed and in one document, please download the Bondix License Model (PDF file, 570kB). New Bondix Partners We're very proud to welcome these three new partners to the Bondix family! XCommnet is an SD-WAN service provider that brings instant Internet connectivity to businesses needing rapid deployment, for urban, rural, remote and hard to reach places such as wind farms, construction sites, and outdoor festivals. All these use cases benefit greatly from bonding, especially if it's so easy to install as Bondix S.A.NE. XCommNet saw this opportunity early and decided to partner up with Bondix to provide their customers not only instant, but instant reliable Internet. Unwired Networks, Austria: Internet for Public and Private Transport, Tourism and Retail This May, Unwired Networks has officially become a Bondix Partner for Connectivity Solutions. If you also have an event you want featured in the Bondix newsletter, please contact marketing@bondixintelligence.com . Bondix S.A.NE September 2022 Release Notes Our developers work on Bondix S.A.NE software incrementally which means that bug fixes, improvements, and even new features are constantly added, producing new release versions every couple of days. On a monthly basis, we publish a version that combines all changes added since the last version. This September 2022 Release contains the following changes: New Features Support for Teltonika RUTOS 7.x firmware With this release, we officially support Teltonika’s RUTOS 7 with improved features and support for more devices: RUT95x and RUT24x. The realtime traffic monitor has been embedded in the web interface. Please note that it currently does not work with RMS or "https://" connections. Layer-2 Tunneling Support (BETA) It is now possible to set up a layer-2 tunnel directly with S.A.NE. In this first iteration, a virtual interface is created on both client and server for each tunnel – packets coming in on one end will come out the other and vice versa. This is an advanced feature; further configuration must be done server-side depending on the usage scenario. Configurable Maximum Bandwidth per Interface This release allows specifying a maximum bandwidth limit per interface. This prevents the automatic bandwidth detection to over-estimate a WAN uplink, which can sometimes cause latency jitter and packet loss. Configuring maximum bandwidth helps in situations where stable latency is required, such as live-streaming. Automatic Tunnel Reversion When using a secondary server as backup, it can now be configured to ping the primary server in regular intervals and revert any connected tunnels back to the primary server if it becomes available again. This ensures that all tunnels are always connected to the primary server. Improvements Client Client behaves better when client package buffer is exceeded. Client/Server Information provided by bndutil/bxutil/API is extended. Server Environment & tunnel configuration are reloaded on SIGNUP. Bug Fixes Client/Server Only parsing first bonding proxy control message when multiple messages were received has been fixed. Time measurement in certain situations that could affect bandwidth detection is now accurate. Bandwidth detection now increases bandwidth if interface is always busy. "Latency throttle" now works. Server Race condition when a tunnel gets deleted while connect is in progress has been fixed.
